It was so dark and cold
And I felt nothing could be worse,
the weather was down, moods were glum
It felt as if the day were a curse.
I was exhausted,
and it was just noon,
a little cheeriness
would have been a real boon.
Nothing went wrong in particular,
but I guess it was just one of those days.
But sometimes the world just seems down,
'It happens,' mum says.
To make the situation drearier,
down fell a small drop of rain,
on our already terrible moods,
this was definitely going to cause a stain.
The rain had no ideas of ceasing
and taking pity on any one,
it continued down, hard
watching people with (or without) umbrellas run.
I was just annoyed,
with the whole gloomy air,
I was so frustrated with the world,
such a random irritation wasn't fair.
But then, causing one and all
to gaze up into the sky
was a little ray, just a small one
of sunshine peeping like a spy.
It slowly grew, bigger and wider
illuminating the moist soil of the ground
and the rain stopped abruptly,
causing a sudden absence of sound,
But one, of an on-looker,
a small boy of around nine,
"Mommy mommy!" he cried,
"A rainbow's sure to come after rain and sunshine!"
And come it did,
a bright shining arc
stretching across the ceiling of earth,
each molecule a shimmering spark.
As hands pointed
towards the colourful vision,
a sweet sound enveloped all
tones so accurate and notes hit with precision.
A little blue bird
sat on the branch of a tall mango tree
and sang her heart out
it felt like she was reaching out to me,
To make me regret
saying what I said,
"My god, why is today such a horrible day?
I just don't want to get out of bed."
Well if I hadn't gotten out of bed,
I never would have seen,
this dull dreary day transform,
into a picturesque scene.
